“A Day with Mary” is a beautiful day of prayer and devotion organized by the Mission of the Immaculate Mediatrix Movement (M.I.M.).

“A Day with Mary” is based on the message of Our Lady of Fatima. In 1917 Our Lady requested:

“Pray, pray much: make sacrifices for poor sinners; there are many souls who go to hell because there is no one who prays and does penance for them.”

Similarly, like the three shepherds of Fatima, we want to respond concretely to this appeal of Our Lady with joy and generosity.

The Activities of the Day

The day of prayer begins with a brief account of the story of Fatima (a DVD is shown in the hall) and then proceeds to liturgical activities with the procession and crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Church. The day is composed of prayers and devotions such as the The Divine Mercy Chaplet, Meditation on the Passion, Holy Mass, recitation of the Holy Rosary, Conferences on the Eucharist and Our Lady, and Eucharistic adoration.

The highlight of the day is the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

The recitation of the Holy Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, and the meditation on the Passion, consists of special moments of graces since they are done in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

The first part of the day concludes with a brown-bag lunch. The book table is open, for participants to brouse, while they also have the opportunity to get to know the other participants of the day. This is a great time to share and help each other understand ways to praise and honor Our Lord and His Most Blessed Mother.

The day concludes with Eucharistic Benediction and the blessing of religious objects. There is then the opportunity for those who would like to receive a Miraculous Medal to be imposed with the Miraculous Medal and also to be enrolled in the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.

There are priests available throughout the day to hear confessions. A plenary indulgence has been granted by the Holy See and may be obtained by participating in “A Day With Mary” and by fulfilling the usual requirements, which are all available during the Day with Mary. This indulgence may be applied to oneself or for the faithful departed.

The day culminates with a procession of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima out of the church with the beautiful and touching customary waving of handkerchiefs to farewell Our Blessed Mother. It is through this gesture that the “World Apostolate for Fatima” received the title of the “Pilgrim Virgin”.
