First Saturday

The First Saturday devotions in honor of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a long standing tradition at Our Lady of Guadalupe Friary. The family oriented day combines catechesis, devotions and recreational activities all under the maternal mantle of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The First Saturday program begins with confessions available at 9:30 am and then at 10:00 am with a hymn to Our Lady and the bestowal of flowers by the children. This is followed by a forty five minute combined Catechesis and Meditation on the Mysteries of the Rosary, with the youth being divided by age into two groups. A short snack break is then taken before the Holy Rosary is recited in the Chapel. At 11:30 am the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is offered with a 15 minute period for thanksgiving afterwards. At 12:45 pm all join in the hall for a shared pot luck lunch, followed by recreational activities (volley ball, basket ball and board games) for the youth.

All are welcomed to participate in this day dedicated to bring the Immaculate Heart of Mary ever closer to families and youths. For more information please contact the friary.
